In this role, you will be working in a software development team extending and enhancing Andor’s innovative scientific product portfolio. The role extends to integrating our products in 3rd party software applications, gathering product requirements management, quality testing strategy & development and support for customer queries and production support.

  • Design, implement and test software libraries and applications.
  • Provide innovative, robust, and scalable solutions to complex technical problems.
  • Drive continuous improvement to the development process.
  • Gather requirements based on system specifications for new products.
  • Drive task breakdown, estimation, and execution.
  • Develop design documentation.
  • Provide technical support to internal and external customers.
  • Write user guides, manuals, and any other documentation.
  • Build working relationships with other key departments and customers
  • Support other members of the development team.
  • Any other duties as may be required from time to time by your line manager.


Essential Criteria


  • 2:1 (or higher) BSc/BEng qualification in Electrical and Electronic/Software Engineering or equivalent qualification
  • Evidence of high initiative and the ability to learn quickly
  • At least 5 years’ experience in:
    • C# for Windows application development
    • object orientated design using industry standard techniques and tools


Desirable Criteria


  • MSc/MEng or PhD in Electrical and Electronic/Software Engineering or equivalent qualification
  • Experience gained within a development environment for design, test and production of instrumentation
