We are seeking a Junior Electronics Production Engineer to join our team. The primary focus for this role is to review and measure the quality performance of our electronics by testing, diagnosing failures and recommending corrective actions, and to support the Engineering change process for Electronics into Operations by ensuring a robust and high-quality product is introduced and supported throughout its life Cycle.

Role responsibilites:

  • Act as a first tier production line electronics engineering support function to ensure a quality product is delivered to schedule.
  • Define, test, and approve suitable alternatives to electronics requirements based on component Obsolescence and supplier availability.
  • Determine special and standard electronics tooling/equipment requirements to support the manufacture of all products and implement as required.
  • Create, maintain and improve Electronics Test documentation for new and existing products in alignment with company standards, including work instructions, inspection checklists and other quality system documents.
  • Support New Product Introductions (NPI) & Engineering change are implemented effectively and both product & processes are productionised and repeatable. Focus specifically on Electronics BOMs, components and potential alternatives.
  • Repair & rework of faulty electrical/electronic assemblies including soldering, wire preparation and wire termination (soldering & crimping).
  •  Complete First Article inspection checks to ensure quality products are provided by vendors with effective feedback to prevent further issues.
  • Support vendor cost, quality, and delivery performance in the supply of sub assembly products and services. Support the business in the communication of performance issues to vendors and demonstrate improvements delivered.
  • Production efficiency & yield improvements paired with Variance Reduction with regards Electronics failure rates.

 

About you:

A Degree/HND in Electrical and/or Electronics Engineering or demonstrated technical competence by relevant experience.

  • Solid grasp of fundamental Electrical and Electronics engineering principles with examples of Diagnosing and completing root cause analysis on poorly performing electronics.
  • Able to carry out soldering and de-soldering work on assemblies and PCBAs including through-hole and surface mount technologies.
  • Able to carry out electrical wiring operations including wire preparation and termination (soldering & crimping).
  • Able to run manual and automated test procedures for final assemblies, sub-modules, PCBAs and cables.
  • Experience of writing SOPs particularly for electrical/electronic testing.
  • Able to assemble prototype test jigs/fixtures from engineering style documentation/sketches.
