The Opportunity

 

As a Senior Electronics Production Engineer you will review and measure current manufacturing processes, identify waste, opportunities for improvement and agree improvement targets, agree plans and targets with the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, and promote a Continuous Improvement culture through training and coaching of cross functional teams on process improvement techniques. The primary purpose will be to productionise low volume/high value electronics products.

 

About You

 

The Senior Electronics Production Engineer will ideally have the following skills and attributes:

  • Degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, or a relevant Science Degree with at least 4 years Electrical Engineering Experience.
  • Considerable practical and proven knowledge of electronics hardware and software test and development in both development and manufacturing environments.
  • An analytical approach and the ability to use test results to diagnose faults is essential.
  • Ability to design electronics and develop software is highly desirable.
  • Use of root cause analysis tools for analysing and fixing causes of product failure and variation
  • Lean Manufacturing skills also desirable
  • Familiar with using design for manufacture techniques
  • Familiar with appropriate manufacturing methodologies for electronics and PCBs.
  • Able to develop, document and control detailed processes and guide technicians through build and test operations identifying CTQ/CTS
  • Familiar with project management techniques and practice

Key Responsibilities for the Senior Electronics Production Engineer

 

  • Ensure Detailed Build and Test Documentation for products and processes are fit for purpose.
  • Develop Knowledge Trees for products to aid in fault resolution both in house and in the field
  • Design, recommend and implement functional test systems for product verification.
  • Provide a frontline Production support by Integrating, testing, and supporting electronic products.
  • Work to established production schedules and find creative ways to stay on schedule.
  • Develop the capability of launched products by identifying and implementing design and process improvements.
  • Support Product Transfer, including preparing Manufacturing Procedures and operator training, ensure Documentation is in place to reproduce Systems in the event of failure.
  •  Write and Review Engineering Change Orders to ensure all documentation is present. Prepare supplier documentation to introduce prototype and product updates.
  • Support product transfer, including preparing manufacturing procedures and operator training.
  • Provide MRB and RMA support through diagnostic testing and fault finding. Conduct statistical analysis to determine most effective areas of action and improvement.
  • Ensure products and components used comply with relevant directives such as ROHS, REACH and TSCA and ensure relevant documentation is in place in our Product Lifecycle Management system (PLM).
  • Be actively involved in the electronic component lifecycle. Reporting and managing end of life notifications and ensuring timely decisions are carried out to ensure continuous production. – includes PCN, EOL, LTB, date code acceptance and alternative devices are acted on to ensure continued supply of product.
  • Work with EMS suppliers to guarantee high quality product supply. Support supplier testing and develop supplier capability.
  • Support the development of software and firmware solutions for products through functional testing
  • Provide support to manufacturing and the field through diagnostic testing and fault finding. Conduct statistical analysis to determine most effective areas of action and improvement. Implementing design and process improvements to consolidate these improvements.
