The Opportunity

 

The Technical Author will be responsible for the design and delivery of high quality, easy to use, end user documentation

 

About You

 

The Technical Author will ideally have the following skills and attributes:

 

•           Degree level education

•           Ideally - Physics/Materials Science degree

•           Hands on experience with scientific instrumentation, ideally Scanning Electron      Microscopy and associated analytical techniques

•           Excellent writing, oral communication, presentation, and organisation skills.

•           Ability to structure and write material for a highly technical audience.

•           An inquisitive nature, with the ability to ask subject-matter experts the right questions.

•           Ability to work independently and manage your priorities and deadlines appropriately

•           A ‘continuous improvement’ mentality.

•           Ideally - Experience using Microsoft DevOps

•           Ideally – Experience with a software help tool like Madcap Flare and/or RoboHelp,          and Madcap Lingo.

 

 

 

Key Responsibilities for the Technical Author  

 

•           Researching, writing, editing, illustrating, project managing, and publishing            customer/engineer documentation, including installation & setup guides, user guides,        hardware manuals and software manuals.

•           Working with software developers to update user documentation for each software       release and to amend the documentation to reflect new features developed during      release cycles.

•           Working with engineers and technologists to update system and hardware documentation.

•           Estimating documentation effort and delivery planning.

•           Helping to define documentation requirements
