Date:  14-Oct-2021

Oxford, GB

Job Function:  Commercial
Business Unit:  NanoScience

At Oxford Instruments, we enable the world’s leading industrial companies and scientific research communities to image, analyse and manipulate materials down to the atomic and molecular level. Our customers use our NanoScience ultra-low temperature and high magnetic field environments to go beyond what was once thought possible, whether that’s creating Nobel Prize winning materials or developing quantum computers to solve the world’s most complex problems.

Do you have experience within a technical sales environment, or have a technical background and would like to work in sales? Are you looking for a new challenge? We have a newly created opportunity for you to join us and make a major contribution towards the growth of our service revenue.

We are looking for an individual that will be credible dealing with customers from the R&D community, technical start-up companies, and academia.  If you are interested in ground-breaking technology, its varied applications and excited about the potential to be part of our growth strategy, then we would love to hear from you.

The opportunity

In this newly created position, you will be responsible for driving the sales of service contracts, part sales and customer upgrades and proactively developing new business and prospects for the service department.  This will include following up on leads and making outbound sales calls.  Working towards the sales plan, you will use the CRM to manage an opportunity funnel, direct sales enquiries, and leads generated from marketing campaigns to achieve your targets.  As part of the role, you will generate quotes for billable service opportunities, service contracts, as well as upgrades. You will have extensive contact with our customers, the wider global service team and the marketing department.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will either have previous experience working in a technical sales environment, where you will have gained a good understanding of the sale process from lead generation to closing out, which should also include negotiating and dealing with end users.  Or you will have a strong technical background (engineering, physics, chemistry or similar) with a desire to launch your career in sales. Your self-motivation, customer focus and excellent communication skills, along with your ability to learn about and understand our products will see you thrive in this challenging environment.
