Oxford, GB

Job Function:  Technical
Business Unit:  NanoScience

At Oxford Instruments, we enable the world’s leading industrial companies and scientific research communities to image, analyse and manipulate materials down to the atomic and molecular level. Our customers use our NanoScience ultra-low temperature and high magnetic field environments to go beyond what was once thought possible, whether that’s creating Nobel Prize winning materials or developing quantum computers to solve the world’s most complex problems.

If you are an experienced Project Manager, passionate about technology and engineering and would like to work with exciting new applications such as Quantum Computing, then this is the role for you!

We have a rare opportunity for a Technical Project Manager to join the New Product Introduction team, where you will help to translate the requirements of the market into a viable product.  This is a challenging yet rewarding role that will see you planning and managing the development of our products of the future.

This is a fixed term contract position that we anticipate lasting for 12-24 months.

The opportunity

In this pivotal role you will be responsible for all aspects of a product lifecycle as defined by the Development Gate Process.  This includes initial discussion of the market requirement, evaluation of technology options with the R&D team, the product specification, design, legislative compliance issues and the transition to manufacture with the assistance of other departmental heads.  You will ensure an appropriate product as defined by a Market Requirement Specification (MRS) is completed on time, on cost and on quality.

About You

To be successful in this role you will need extensive experience in product or equipment design, ideally within a complex manufacturing environment, together with previous experience of project management.  You will have experience of managing the full lifecycle of a product from concept design to being accepted by a customer. It would be ideal if you have experience of working with magnetics, cryogenic systems and resource management. Your ability to spot risks within a project and mitigate those is essential, as well as being diligent in planning and administering a project.  Your passion for technology, ability to understand complex scientific instruments and resilient nature will contribute to your success in this position.  A relevant degree in engineering and a project management qualification would also be desirable.

In addition to a competitive starting salary, Oxford Instruments offers flexible working hours and a half-day on Fridays. We also offer 25 days annual leave, private healthcare, a share incentive plan, a defined contribution Group Personal Pension Plan, and a flexible benefits package that you can tailor to your own requirements. We also invest in our talented employees by supporting them in their ongoing career and development so that they reach their full potential. We care and work hard to provide a workplace where you can grow and learn.  #LI-JR1
