 We are looking for an experienced Director of Operations to join the XT team!  This position will oversee the Operations and Manufacturing Engineering department to ensure the procurement of materials and manufacturing of all products meet required quality and safety standards, on time and within budget. 

This is a hands-on role that will proactively reduce scrap and operating expenses with primary responsibility for safety in the plant.  The Director of Operations reports to the President and will oversee a small team of about 5-6 people.


•    Propose objectives, strategies, and long-term plans related to procurement, manufacturing, product delivery, and site utilization.  Accountable to deliver results and continually improve quality and cost.
•    Propose policy concerning manufacturing practices within the business, including materials and components sourcing and costs, timely delivery, manufacturing engineering, and the implementation of Lean tools and best practices to reduce manufacturing costs.    
•    Manage the performance of your staff, including their management and development of employees.
•    Define, monitor, and manage annual operating plans and budgets for the operations function.
•    Design and manage planning, forecasting, and capacity management processes to achieve maximum production to meet customer's needs.  
•    Ensure that products meet all quality standards and are delivered on time and to budget
•    Achieve raw materials, WIP, and finished goods inventory targets.    
•    Provide leadership to production floor leads and associates to ensure the goals and objectives are communicated and delivered.  
•    Maintain and improve manufacturing processes to maximize quality, dependability, and productivity while minimizing costs and stock-outs.
•    In concert with corporate CI/Quality initiatives, implement and support best practice production processes and techniques, including Lean Manufacturing methodologies including Kaizen, Cellular manufacturing, Lean Daily Management, 5S, etc.  
•    Engage with the NPI (New Product Introduction) process at all stages in order to support the successful introduction of new products into manufacturing.
•    Optimize the suppliers to maximize delivery performance and quality while minimizing costs and risk.
•    Regularly review and communicate commodity for raw materials and various subcontracted services.
•    Establish and maintain supplier agreements and performance with key suppliers. 
•    Maintain compliance to QMS system in Production and Materials areas
•    Through your teams, maintain an ERP system that accurately reflects the status of materials, orders, production, inventory, WIP, and shipping schedules


ABOUT YOU -  The right candidate will have the following qualifications:
•    Must have prior experience in manufacturing vacuum products or producing products in a vacuum environment.  
•    Is currently, and can show tangible examples of personally implement Lean Processes that deliver continuous improvement.
•    Is currently personally coaching and mentoring employees to deliver results though Lean processes 
•    A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline is required.


Professional Skills/ Abilities:

•    Financially astute, able to assimilate detail and quickly identify critical issues – understanding their impact on tactics and strategy.
•    Adept negotiator, internally & externally
•    Proven ability to work within a corporate structure
•    Computer literate:  MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel (intermediate to advanced), Outlook, and PowerPoint.  
•    Strong understanding of MRP/ERP systems with the ability to train associates on these systems
•    Able to create and deliver a vision by using practical interpersonal skills that engage all stakeholders.
•    7 plus years of success in implementing Continuous Improvement tools and leading operations.

•    Must have managed and developed teams and had financial responsibility.
•    Exposure to, awareness of, and empathy with other cultures, diversity, and business environments
•    Willingness to travel occasionally, less than 15%
