About the Role

The Technical Sales Specialist will be responsible for developing Andor's Physical Science business in Korea through technical sales, application support, business development, and customer engagement. The role focuses on identifying and developing new customers and opportunities, understanding complex scientific applications, and translating customer requirements into appropriate Andor solutions — supporting customers throughout the technical evaluation and purchasing process, from initial application discussion through demonstration, troubleshooting, and commercial opportunity development.

This is a hands-on, customer-facing role requiring strong technical knowledge, commercial awareness, and the ability to work independently across Sales, Applications, Service, Product Management, Marketing, and global Andor teams.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Sales

  • Identify, qualify, and develop new customers and business opportunities across the Korean Physical Science market; develop and execute territory and account plans to expand Andor's customer base and market presence.
  • Build relationships with PIs, researchers, engineers, laboratory managers, and other technical decision-makers, and develop existing accounts by identifying additional applications, projects, and opportunities for portfolio expansion.
  • Manage opportunities from initial customer engagement through technical evaluation, quotation, and order; support sales forecasting, pipeline management, CRM activities, and achievement of agreed business objectives.

Technical & Application Support

  • Understand customer research objectives, experimental requirements, and technical challenges, and translate them into appropriate Andor products, configurations, and technical solutions.
  • Provide technical and application support across scientific imaging, spectroscopy, microscopy, cameras, detectors, and related technologies; conduct product demonstrations, technical evaluations, proof-of-concept activities, workshops, seminars, and presentations.
  • Develop clear technical value propositions, supporting customers in evaluating Andor solutions against competing technologies, and work with Andor Application Scientists and global technical teams on complex application and solution requirements.

Customer Support & Issue Resolution

  • Take ownership of customer technical issues, providing first-level troubleshooting and application support, and coordinate with Service, Applications, Product Management, Customer Support, and global technical teams when additional resources are required; follow issues through to resolution with clear, timely customer communication.

Market Development & Intelligence

  • Develop strong knowledge of the Korean Physical Science research and technology landscape, including Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, Photonics, Semiconductor, Quantum Technology, Plasma Science, and Astronomy; identify emerging applications and market opportunities relevant to Andor's portfolio.
  • Actively participate in conferences, exhibitions, workshops, seminars, and other customer-facing activities; monitor customer needs, technology trends, competitive activity, and market developments.
  • Share customer insights, technical feedback, competitive information, and market intelligence — including Voice of Customer input — with Andor's global Product Management, Applications, Marketing, and Business teams.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with the Korea Sales Manager and collaborate effectively with Sales, Applications, Service, Product Management, Marketing, and global teams to align technical and commercial activities with business priorities.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Physics, Chemistry, Engineering, Materials Science, Photonics, Optical Science, or a related scientific or technical discipline.
  • 10+ years of relevant professional experience in scientific instrumentation, technical sales, application support, or service — including experience selling or supporting complex scientific or technical capital equipment.
  • Proven experience working directly with academic, government research, national laboratory, and/or industrial R&D customers.
  • Strong understanding of scientific research environments and laboratory workflows, with a demonstrated ability to understand complex customer applications and translate them into practical technical solutions.
  • A strong track record of developing new customers and creating business opportunities.
  • Strong technical troubleshooting, problem-solving, and customer support capability.
  • Strong customer-facing, presentation, and consultative selling skills.
  • Fluent Korean and professional English communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and take ownership of customer and business opportunities.
  • Willingness to travel within Korea and internationally as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with scientific cameras, low-light imaging, spectroscopy, spectrometers, microscopy, detectors, or other related scientific instrumentation, including selling complex optical, photonic, or imaging solutions.
  • Experience in Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, Semiconductor, Photonics, Quantum Technology, Plasma Science, Astronomy, or related advanced technology markets.
  • Established relationships within the Korean scientific and research community.
  • Experience with government-funded research projects, national R&D programs, or major institutional investments.
  • Experience working within an international or matrix organization, including familiarity with CRM systems such as SAP.
  • Experience with competitor products or technologies relevant to Andor's Physical Science portfolio.
