Production Support Technician

We are hiring for a Production Support Technician for our Operations department..  The Production Support Technician will play a valuable role supporting the RMA and wider Cameras team. The role will involve the troubleshooting and repair of complex hardware faults on both new and returned products (RMA). You will be the first line support diagnosing and resolving issues for production and RMA products, escalating, and liaising with engineering and/or other support functions when necessary

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Troubleshooting and repair of complex hardware faults on both new and returned products
  • Optimisation of assembled systems/subsystems to achieve desired specification
  • Accurate completion of assembly, test, and repair records
  • Strict adherence to production processes and quality control requirements
  • Accountability for own output, delivery, and quality of assigned production targets
  • When necessary, working with Engineering on New Product Introduction (NPI) to develop appropriate engineering work instructions, build first prototypes / production units and deliver smooth transition from NPI to production volume
  • Signing off NCPs within agreed parameters for designated products
  • Costing Non-Warranty repairs using a template
  • Work independently with a minimum of supervision.
  • Training of new members of team and operations staff when required
  • Continually seek out ways to improve the product and processes.
  • Co-ordinate with stores on material supply and stock control processes giving feedback when issues are spotted with BOMs/WOs etc.
  • Ensure all H&S procedures are followed, identify and report issues using ‘SHEILD’.
  • Identify opportunities to improve health and safety and support implementation.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping at all times.
  • Any other reasonable duties as required by management.

 

The Production Support Technician will have:

 

HNC/HND level or equivalent with 3 years relevant experience in a high-tech production environment OR 5 years relevant experience in a high-tech production environment

AND

  • Technically proficient with at least 3 years’ experience in a technical role working with electronic and/or opto-mechanical products.
  • Demonstrate capability in identifying faults, investigating issues and steering resolutions
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, schematic diagrams, and other technical literature
  • Good soldering skills
  • Good manual dexterity required for handling/manipulation of small/delicate components
  • Good diagnostic skills including the effective use of DMM and Oscilloscope
  • Excellent attention to detail and good concentration levels
  • High level of Computer literacy in an MS Windows environment
