Following an internal promotion we are hiring for a Senior Software Engineer- Software Applications will work in the Software team as part of the wider Engineering & Technology Department. 

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will design, develop and support customer-facing Windows desktop applications used to control and run experiments on scientific instrumentation. Working primarily with C#, .NET and related technologies, you will contribute to software solutions that control hardware, acquire and process scientific data, and provide advanced data visualisation and analysis capabilities.

This is a hands-on software engineering role supporting multiple products and projects across Andor's portfolio. You will work closely with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver robust, maintainable and high-quality software that enables customers to achieve groundbreaking scientific results.

Key responsibilities include:

• Design, develop, maintain and support customer-facing Windows desktop applications using C# and .NET.
• Contribute to the delivery of software across multiple products and projects within the Software Applications portfolio.
• Develop software that interfaces with scientific instrumentation and hardware devices for experiment control and automation.
• Implement solutions for data acquisition, processing, storage and analysis.
• Contribute to the development of data visualisation capabilities, including advanced 3D and 4D rendering and scientific imaging applications.
• Investigate and resolve software defects, performance issues and customer-reported problems.
• Participate in software design discussions and contribute to architecture and technical decision-making.
• Write clean, maintainable and testable code in accordance with engineering best practices.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the development team.
• Collaborate with software engineers, test engineers, product managers and domain experts to deliver high-quality solutions.
• Support software releases, deployment activities and ongoing product maintenance.
• Share technical knowledge and support colleagues through collaboration and peer review.
• Occasional travel to other offices and customer sites

The Senior Software Engineer- Software Applications will have:

• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related technical discipline or equivalent professional experience in delivering commercial software solutions
• At least 5 years' experience in commercial software development.
• Significant hands-on experience developing applications using C# and .NET.
• Proven experience delivering complex software solutions through the full software development lifecycle.
• Experience working within Agile software development teams.
• Experience developing and supporting commercial desktop software applications.

This permanent position is based at our Belfast headquarters working a hybrid model.
