Export Control Officer

We are recruiting for an experienced Export Control Officer to join our growing global compliance team and help ensure our international operations remain compliant with export control and trade regulations. Based in Belfast, Bristol or High Wycombe, this is a permanent opportunity working a hybrid model with occasional travel to other Oxford Instruments sites.

 

The Opportunity

As Export Control Officer, you will support and maintain Oxford Instruments Andor's global export compliance activities, ensuring that international sales, service, supply chain and commercial operations are conducted in line with relevant UK, EU, US and other applicable export control, sanctions and trade compliance requirements.

The successful candidate will independently manage day-to-day export compliance activity, including export licence applications, sanctions and restricted party screening, customer and transaction due diligence, compliance record keeping and audit readiness. They will act as a practical compliance partner to stakeholders across Andor and the wider OI Group, escalating complex or non-standard matters where appropriate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage export licence applications, renewals and amendments through the UK ECJU system and other relevant jurisdictions.
  • Conduct sanctions, restricted party and denied party screening activities.
  • Review customers, end-users, destinations and transactions to identify potential compliance risks.
  • Support enhanced due diligence activities for higher-risk transactions and territories.
  • Provide guidance to internal stakeholders on export control requirements, licensing and compliance processes.
  • Maintain robust compliance records to support audit readiness and regulatory requirements.
  • Support internal and external audits, compliance reviews and regulatory enquiries.
  • Monitor developments in export control and sanctions regulations and help implement regulatory changes across the business.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen and improve compliance processes and controls.

About You

We're looking for someone who can confidently manage day-to-day export compliance activities while building strong relationships across the business.

Essential Criteria:

  • 3 years' experience in export controls, trade compliance, sanctions compliance, customs compliance or a similar regulatory role.
  • Strong knowledge of UK export controls and ECJU licensing processes.
  • Experience within a technology, engineering, manufacturing, scientific or other regulated international environment.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to interpret complex regulations and translate them into practical business guidance.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • A proactive, collaborative approach with high levels of integrity and sound judgement.
