Are you a HSE Manager looking for your next challenge? We have an exciting opportunity for you to lead and continuously improve health and safety strategies and programs in our company, located in Severn Beach, Bristol.

 

As our Health and Safety Manager, you will be responsible for promoting and maintaining a culture of safety and well-being across all aspects of our business. You will be a key player in driving behavioral safety culture, ensuring all stakeholders, internal and external, are committed to safety and well-being.

 

You will contribute to strategic planning to ensure we are in compliance with health and safety regulations, while effectively and efficiently managing health and safety policies, procedures, and systems. You will be responsible for integrating occupational safety and health practices into everything we do in a practical, understandable, and measurable way.

 

Working closely with our supervisors and managers, you will gain a better understanding of the needs of each team, allowing you to enhance working conditions through safety practices that improve and enhance working conditions.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure our business is compliant with UK legislation and wider OI Group strategy for health, safety and environment
  • Audit health, safety and environmental performance, accurately reporting, investigating and implementing learning from incidents and near misses
  • Engage with key internal and external stakeholders including senior management, operational staff and external regulators
  • Lead new programmes, campaigns and always seek opportunities to improve and develop health and safety and wellbeing
  • Coach, develop and performance manage our SHE Coordinator
  • Maintain a high level of awareness of legislation and best practice in a world class manufacturing environment and train our workforce to support this
  • Ensure all accidents, incidents and near misses are correctly reported and investigated and learning is enacted
  • Manage and embed ISO14001 and 45001 onto our ways of working
  • Monitor compliance with company policies, OH&S Management System and procedures Ensure documentation is controlled as per our HSE system
  • Ensure safe systems of work and procedures and tall health and safety issues are regularly reviewed and adhered to
  • Undertake internal audits and produce reports and Action Plans from the findings
  • Ensure all production and maintenance activities are performed following compliance and legal requirements
  • Train teams to, and deliver, Risk Assessments across our business
  • Produce monthly reports for management review of all data and trends analysis. Recommend and enable actions
  • Work with employees to achieve key performance indicators and embed Health and Wellbeing programmes
  • Establish occupational standards and monitoring
  • Advise on, and monitor, all SHE compliance training, establishing supplier relationships when necessary
  • Support the SHE Coordinator’s onboarding of new employees and provide them with inductions and orientation of OH&S.

 

Education / Qualifications:

Essential

  • NEBOSH Diploma Certificate or equivalent as a minimum (or working towards) and membership of IOSH
  • Manufacturing experience
  • Experience with ISO Management systems

Desirable

  • A relevant degree, such as environmental health or occupational safety and health.
  • A postgraduate diploma or a Master's.

 

Professional Skills/ Abilities:

Essential

  • Manufacturing background
  • Auditing health, safety and environmental performance, accurately reporting and investigating incidents and near misses
  • Experience implementing and monitoring UK legislation, and continuously improving Health, Safety and Wellbeing in an organisation
  • Engaging, training and developing stakeholders including senior management, employees and external contractors/visitors
  • Evidence of being a hands-on Health and Safety leader, visible throughout the business
  • Confident, firm and able to push back in the right way when needed.

Desirable

  • Experience managing and developing staff
  • Evidence of working in a Group Environment, sharing best practice with colleagues and supporting Group HSE initiatives.
