We are currently recruiting for a Technical Sales Support Engineer for a permanent position (Hybrid working) based in Bristol. You will be a part of an Upgrades team and your key objectives would be to compile quotations, enabling upgrades to be quoted to the customer. Carry out technical reviews, create specification documents and provide product support to the Sales, Operations and Engineering functions. Identify new opportunities for upgrade sales and create new upgrade offers.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Create accurate and detailed specification and quotation documents of a professional standard to be agreed and signed off with the customer.

  • Coordinate with the Field Service and Sales teams in the provision of required specification documentation including QCF 676 (Gas Safety) and relevant site photographs to help facilitate the successful Engineering and Build of the sale.

  • Create Customer Engineering Specials (CES) requests for final Business sign off for each Upgrade sale entering its final purchasing stage. Ensure that the customer requirement is fully understood and communicated to stakeholders.

  • Create RSM (Request for Software Modifications) Where required on new Upgrade Orders ensuring the spec is fully understood and communicated.

  • On “Non-Standard” Upgrade requests from the customer, coordinate feasibility versus risk meetings with relevant stakeholders to ensure impact to the company is understood before communicating an agreed response to the customer.

  • Advise & liaise with the Sales Team on technical queries relating to upgrade quotations, providing a prompt response to all quotation enquiries.

  • Proactively follow up on open quotations, working with field service sales teams to increase conversion and revenue.

  • Attend Regional (Asia, EMEA, USA) Pipeline reviews discussing opportunity progress and clarifying actions to be carried out.

  • Ensure that all “Standard” Upgrades have Accurate Quote Templates to be used by the world-wide Service Sales Teams.

  • Ensure Quote templates are accurate and updated to include the latest parts and advice given by the Engineering team with care and attention to costs and margin.

  • Highlight any quote which does not meet margin target or has other potential errors.

  • Identify new customers for existing upgrade paths by actively mining the install base.

  • Help support new upgrade marketing plans and supporting information/literature, working with the Service Marketing, Marketing, Product and Platform management teams.

  • Suggest and help to develop and introduce pricing strategy for upgrade paths with the Upgrade Manager to meet upgrade growth objectives.

  • Act in a supportive & helpful manner to all staff involved in the order fulfilment process.

  • Attend pre-ship meetings to ensure order requirements have been fulfilled prior to shipment.

  • Carry out any other tasks that may be reasonably requested by the Company.



  • Minimum HNC or equivalent

  • Proven track record of a Sales environment.

  • Customer facing sales experience.

  • Experience of low volume, high value high spec environment preferable.

  • Good understanding of Plasma related equipment would be beneficial

  • Capable of accurate and speedy analysis of data.

  • A well-developed understanding of MS Office. (Excel / Outlook essential)

  • Experience of quoting software.
