Materials Analysis is an Oxford Instruments Business Unit that manages our Electron Microscopy and Mechanical Microscopy products, Atomic Force Microscopes, Raman Microscopes and Benchtop NMR Products. We are part of the wider Oxford Instruments Group that also includes Andor Technology, NanoScience, Plasma Technology and X-Ray Technology. We are seeking an Assistant Accountant to join our Finance Team in High Wycombe. The primary purpose of this role is to manage bank accounts, maintain fixed asset register and depreciation, reconcile balance sheet accounts such as accruals and support with inventory processes.

This role would be ideal for you, if…

  • You are part-qualified (e.g. AAT Level 4) or have the equivalent experience
  • Have experience in a financial role and are familiar with financial standards and reporting procedures
  • Have good excel skills
  • You have a flexible attitude and approach to changing requirements and priorities and can demonstrate adaptability

 

Responsibilities:

Bank

  • Cash book entries
  • Making bank payments
  • Point of contact for all queries relating to the bank account
  • Reviewing and approving Group clearing transactions.  Querying any discrepancies and ensuring they are resolved in a timely manner
  • Weekly reconciliations of bank accounts

Fixed Assets

  • Create fixed assets on the FAR once approved by budget holders, ensuring approval process is adhered to.
  • Maintain the fixed asset register
  • Post monthly depreciation
  • Post Fixed asset accruals

Inventory

  • Support the Cost Accountant with inventory tasks:
  • weekly inventory analysis
  • stock count analysis, ensure that inventory is counted in line with OI policy
  • Internal auditing of stock
  • Monthly reconciliation of all inventory accounts
  • Reporting accurate inventory by warehouse and GL

Month End

  • Calculating and managing all accruals
  • Posting VAT journals for the reclass of foreign transactions
  • Calculate interest depreciation for car Leases – right to use
  • Review and posting of monthly payroll journal
  • Reconciling sundry debtors
  • Reallocation of establishment overhead cost

Location:

We are based in High Wycombe (Cressex) and have hybrid working, which is 3 days in the office, with 2 days at home. Our working week is 37 hours, with flexible working hours and 12:30 Friday finishes
