Financial Reporting Manager

Materials Analysis is an Oxford Instruments Business Unit that manages our Electron Microscopy and Mechanical Microscopy products, Atomic Force Microscopes, Raman Microscopes and Benchtop NMR Products. We are part of the wider Oxford Instruments Group that also includes Andor Technology, NanoScience, Plasma Technology and X-Ray Technology. We are seeking a Financial Reporting Manager to join our Finance Team in High Wycombe. In this newly created role, you will be responsible for providing meaningful financial information and advice to Business managers and partnering with the business; responsible for all business reporting and managing a team of 6. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who demonstrates a keen ability to build relationships with stakeholders, has a curious mindset and builds trust through understanding. The reporting manager will be a member of the Senior Leadership Team and will play a key part in shaping the High Wycombe office.
Location:
We are based in High Wycombe (Cressex) and have hybrid working, which is 3 days in the office, with 2 days at home. Our working week is 37 hours, with flexible working hours and 12:30 Friday finishes.

This role would be ideal for you if…
- You are fully qualified (AAT, CIMA, ACCA etc)
- You have experience of success as a management accountant (or similar role) in a complex, international business.
- You are experienced in consolidation, budgeting and forecasting.
- You thrive at ensuring that technical developments and other activities are clearly linked to commercial and other financial outcomes and explains this requirement to their people.
- You are a people manager with the ability to set clear expectations for the team and that cultivates an open culture.
Responsibilities:
The Financial Reporting Manager role is broad, with scope to get involved in a variety of tasks, such as people management, business reporting and support, which are outlined as follows
Reporting:
Responsible for all Materials Analysis business reporting:
- Produce monthly consolidated MA accounts in a timely and accurate fashion.
- Review the local factory ledgers with the finance team on a monthly basis before consolidation
- Active & regular review of the financial accounts for the overseas subsidiaries (located in USA, High Wycombe, France, Germany, Sweden , Korea and China). Work with the finance teams to ensure the data reported is accurate and agreed
- Revenue and margin analysis reports based on product/region/segment on a monthly basis and ad hoc reports/analysis as required by the business
- Weekly orders/sales analysis
- Support overseas offices as required
- Produce monthly Visual Management KPI data for Senior Leadership Team across all factories and the MA Exec team
- Monthly balance sheet review across all sites and quarterly reviews with General Managers/Finance Business Partners
- Business Partnering with departments in High Wycomb
Budgeting and Planning
Liaising and supporting the MA International Finance Manager with the annual budget:
- Orders
- Revenue & COGS Budget
- Overheads budget
- P&L, Balance Sheet, Capex and Cashflow
- Foreign Currency Budget
- Support the SLT to develop the 3 year Strategy on an annual basi
People Management
- Create a supporting and open culture within the finance team ensuring that ideas are listened to and improvements made to improve efficiency
- Build a highly effective team, who take ownership to drive change
- Support the members of the finance team in their ongoing career developmen
Support
- Actively support R&D process working closely with project managers and business managers on project/product investment evaluations
- Actively encourage and engage in Continuous improvement activities both in the finance team and in the broader business
- Support other regular and one-off business decisions using appropriate techniques (e.g., sensitivity analysis, investment evaluation techniques, etc.)
- Proactively provide regular and ad hoc financial information, analysis and advice on business issues to managers.
- Coach and support managers within the business in financially based analysis and decision making
- Maintain effective working relationships with budget holding managers within the business.
- Support the team with the annual year end financial audit
- Member of the High Wycombe SLT
