Plasma Technology, as a part of Oxford Instruments Group, offers flexible, configurable process tools and leading-edge processes for the precise, controllable and repeatable engineering of micro- and nanostructures. Our systems provide process solutions for the etching of nanometre sized features, nanolayer deposition and the controlled growth of nanostructures. These solutions are based on core technologies in plasma-enhanced deposition and etch, ion-beam deposition and etch, atomic layer deposition, deep silicon etch and physical vapour deposition.
We are currently recruiting for a Customer Support Engineer (Field Engineer) for a permanent role based in France. To ensure that OIPT equipment is fully functional and available for customer use, regular extensive travel within France and occasionally the wider EMEA region will be required.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform installation and upgrades of systems and software at customer sites.
- Perform preventative maintenance and breakdown visits at customer sites.
- Provide technical troubleshooting and liaison with customers.
- Assist Technical Helpdesk with Customer Support issues and provide manpower support when necessary.
- Work as an individual within a team of engineers exchanging information and experiences.
- Provide timely, concise service reports to customers of work carried out.
- Liaise with Technical Support and Engineering on any potential or actual system problems.
- Report issues through FRACAS reporting system.
- Liaise with Sales and Upgrades Team to provide useful background information.
- Carry out basic customer training at customer sites.
- Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with the Company’s Health and Safety, ISO 9001 Quality, and all other compliance systems.
- If required to work in Final Test, ensure product complies with established standards and specifications, ensuring quality is maintained, schedules are achieved and efficiency targets met.
- Support Customer acceptance visits as identified by Team Leader. Provide a point of contact within the team during the visit.
- Carry out any other tasks that may be reasonably requested by the Company.
- Comply with the Company’s health, safety and environmental standards.
Qualifications:
- Degree/HNC or equivalent in Electrical, Electronic or Mechatronics
- Solid experience in Field Service on CapEx.
Professional skills/abilities:
- Knowledge of Plasma processes (RIE/ICP/ICPCVD/ALD/ALE/Ionbeam) would be advantageous.
- Hands on experience of Customer/Field Service support ideally in the semiconductor or in a similar high technology electronic/instrumentation sector.
- Ability to read electrical and mechanical schematics, fault find and implement corrective actions.
- Proficient PC Skills (Microsoft Office, Word, Excel).
- Uses interpersonal skills to communicate effectively in both one-to-one and group situations.
- Team Player
- Driving licence (essential).
- The position requires extensive, frequent travel.
