The Opportunity

 

As a Manufacturing Engineer you will review and measure current manufacturing processes, identify waste, opportunities for improvement and agree improvement targets.  Agree plans and targets with Manufacturing Engineering Manager. Promote a Continuous Improvement culture through training and coaching of cross functional teams on process improvement techniques

 

About You

 

The Manufacturing Engineer will ideally have the following skills and attributes:

 

  • HNC / Degree in a relevant Electronics Engineering or Science discipline with at least 2-4 years relevant engineering experience
  • Familiar with the use of PFMEA, DFMEA, Risk (hazard) analysis
  • Familiar with using design for manufacture techniques
  • Familiar with appropriate manufacturing methodologies
  • Able to develop, document and control detailed processes and guide technicians through build and test operations identifying CTQ/CTS
  • Familiar with project management techniques and practice
  • Understanding of mechanical design principles to ensure product success
  • Familiar with CAD and able to review design drawings
  • Familiar with MRP/ERP Systems

Key Responsibilities for the Manufacturing Engineer

 

  • Own and deliver manufacturing processes by developing appropriate tooling and robust processes
  • Ensure detailed build and test documentation for products and processes are fit for purpose
  • Offer and implement Operational focused changes to reduce the Cost of Poor Quality (CoPQ).
  • Suggest modifications to existing processes, materials and concepts referring to technical experts to manage associated risk
  • Own and deliver the agreed aspects of a given project within budget and time
  • Deliver cost down requirements for products and manufacturing processes
  • Work with the rest of the team to identify risk areas within our designs and manufacturing processes and implement risk mitigations
  • Work with the Development Team to develop designs that achieve agreed cost and quality targets
  • Work with supply chain and help develop supplier relationships to ensure optimised supply chain for products
  • Define test strategy and collect and interpret data from those tests
  • Develop Knowledge Trees for products to aid in fault resolution both in house and in the field.
  • Demonstrate technical manufacturing capability in a specific area of expertise
  • Develop basic working knowledge / understanding of other technology areas
  • Provide manufacturing technical support to both internal and external customers as appropriate
  • Work within the QMS for document management and engineering changes
  • Own and maintain Product Technical Files and ensure compliance with regulatory bodies
  • Arrange and participate in product regulatory compliance testing
  • Carry out any other tasks which may be reasonably requested by the company
