Manufacturing Test Technician

Date:  19-Nov-2022

Oxford, GB

Job Function:  Operations
Business Unit:  NanoScience

At Oxford Instruments, we enable the world’s leading industrial companies and scientific research communities to image, analyse and manipulate materials down to the atomic and molecular level. Our customers use our NanoScience ultra-low temperature and high magnetic field environments to go beyond what was once thought possible, whether that’s creating Nobel Prize winning materials or developing quantum computers to solve the world’s most complex problems.

Testing in a manufacturing environment doesn’t have to be robotic and repetitive. At Oxford Instruments, every day isn’t the same and mundane isn’t the name of the game.

Here, a Manufacturing Test Technician is in the thick of world-leading technology and capabilities in cryogenics, low-temperature instrumentation, and vacuum technology.

You’re empowered, entrusted, and valued – as a key role in ensuring systemization and factory acceptance for our world-leading product portfolio.

  • Are you a recent engineering graduate who has studied a module/project relevant to cryogenics or low-temperature instrumentation…?

… Or….

  • Do you have existing industry experience in assembling or testing equipment in a high-complex, low-volume product environment…?

If so…, how about…?

  • A fast-growing, stable employer with a global customer base and a strong order book
  • Monday-to-Friday, normal daytime hours – no night shifts
  • Overtime opportunities and a reduced five-hour day on a Friday
  • Excellent benefits, inclusive of medical insurance, company pension, and shares
  • Career progression potential to senior roles and/or other areas of the business
  • Working within a small team, liaising closely with colleagues and a Team Leader
  • Encouragement to self-manage your workload and use intuition and initiative
  • Gaining knowledge of interesting, cutting-edge technology
  • A modern, open-plan office based in attractive woodland surroundings
  • A fun, enjoyable place to work, with team bonding events and refreshments

We are looking for someone who is methodical, inquisitive, and decisive, someone with the mindset to solve problems as well as ensure that the day to day tasks are completed to the highest standard. You enjoy learning and understanding the purpose behind methods, practices, and processes. You care about ‘why’, not just ‘what’.

It’s that drive to learn, explore, and grow that unites Oxford Instruments. We don’t all have a PhD, but we’re branches of the same tree. Everyone is part of the solution. Every employee can develop and progress.

As our next Manufacturing Test Technician, you’ll be testing low-temperature systems and superconducting magnets as part of ensuring products meet specifications. You’ll get to grips with leak detection, power supply, digital vault meters, temperature controllers, and flow/pressure gauges.
