Specialization Segment Leader – Life Science (EMEAI)
Oxford Instruments is seeking an experienced and commercially aware leader to join our Imaging & Analysis business as Specialization Segment Leader – Life Science (EMEAI).
This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for driving growth within our Life Science segment across Europe, the Middle East, Africa and India (EMEAI), while leading and developing a talented team of Application Specialists. You will combine your deep scientific expertise with strong people leadership skills to build a high-performing team that delivers exceptional customer experiences and supports business growth.
We're looking for an established leader who can inspire, coach and develop a geographically dispersed team while acting as a trusted expert within the Life Science community.
About the Role
Reporting to the Director of Specialization – Region EMEAI, you will lead a team of Life Science specialists supporting Oxford Instruments' industry-leading imaging and analysis solutions.
A key focus of the role will be driving adoption and growth of our priority Life Science technologies, including:
- Dragonfly Confocal Microscopy
- BC43 Automated Imaging System
- Raman spectroscopy solutions
- Imaris image analysis software
You will focus on business development activities, helping to identify new opportunities, build market intelligence, and strengthen Oxford Instruments' position within Life Science research and industry.
This role requires significant customer engagement and regional travel, with approximately 60% travel across the EMEAI region, primarily within Europe.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, coach and develop the EMEAI Life Science Specialization Segment team.
- Create a high-performance, collaborative and customer-focused culture.
- Support team development through mentoring, performance management and skills development.
- Ensure effective resource planning and deployment across the region.
Market Growth & Business Development
- Drive growth within the Life Science market segment.
- Identify emerging trends, customer needs and market opportunities.
- Develop and share market intelligence across the wider organisation.
- Partner with Sales, Marketing and Service teams to develop strategic growth initiatives.
Customer & Technical Excellence
- Ensure best-in-class application support for customers, OEM partners, Sales and Service teams.
- Plan and deliver high-quality demonstrations, workshops, seminars and training activities.
- Participate in customer visits and strategic account engagements.
- Support evaluation and development of new workflows and application solutions.
Product & Marketing Support
- Contribute to application notes, case studies, blog articles and other marketing content.
- Gather and communicate Voice of Customer feedback to product and development teams.
- Support prototype evaluations and provide technical recommendations.
- Maintain high-quality CRM activity reporting and documentation.
What We're Looking For
Essential Experience
- Proven experience leading and developing technical or scientific teams.
- Strong people management and leadership capabilities
- Extensive hands-on expertise in:
- Confocal fluorescence microscopy
- Life Science imaging applications
- Advanced microscopy workflows
- Experience supporting customers in either academic or industrial environments.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Experience working across international and cross-functional teams.
Highly Desirable
- Expertise in:
- Dragonfly confocal microscopy
- Raman spectroscopy
- Imaris image analysis software
- Experience within a commercial or customer-facing environment.
- Sales or business development exposure.
- Knowledge of electron microscopy, spectroscopy or correlative imaging techniques.
- PhD in Life Sciences or a related discipline.
